The paper must be constructed in the format of a theoretical amicus curiae brief presented to a court in support of a specific, extant Indian tribe (mine is the Hopi Indian tribe). The paper must provide: a brief legal history of the tribe in question, including information about past treaties; an overview of the tribe’s current governmental structure; and an overview of any recent or current controversies between the tribe and state or federal government regarding questions of property, resource management, and/or jurisdiction.
