Wow a marketing organization would make use of the same data

 

*Research ways in which the company uses information systems to obtain competitive advantage. For example, if a student group was able to select Facebook, the group would investigate how Facebook uses available data to make strategic or tactical decisions for its services, how a marketing organization would make use of the same data, what you would market, sell, advertise, push, or offer if you had access to this data.

*Conversely, you may present concerns regarding privacy, security, employment opportunities, Internet predators, lurkers, stalkers, etc.using an actual organization selling actual products. For this example, Facebook data includes, but is not limited to user profiles (Gender, Relationship Status, Birthday, Hometown, Political/Religious Views, etc.), mini-feeds (how would you use words that evoke a mood, such as sad, happy, lonely, etc. ), electronic gifts (beer steins, underwear, teddy bears), wall posts (is there anything you can learn about a user from this data?), and data gathered by all those applications freely available on Facebook (i.e., Where I’ve Been,Bumper Stickers, Fortune Cookie, Compare People, etc.). Obviously, since your group will not be able to use Facebook as an example,you will look for other organizations and think of other kinds of data they collect and use for this exercise
