What is the appropriate role of the government in international sport.

Based on notes, your country assessment and discussion in class, what is the appropriate role of the government in international sport. Please refrain from discussing domestic based government sport (e.g financing of building NFL stadiums etc., local taxpayers money being used to fund high school sport.) focus on international sport efforts (e.g. success in Olympics, athlete development, support of Olympic committee and or games, say in conduct of sport internationally, using sport as a diplomatic tool, using sport to impose culture, using sport to promote a political ideology.) At its heart what is the appropriate view of sport by government and how should it be supported.
