Choose one of the ethics cases found in the Chapter 4 Review of the Hepworth et al. textbook (Section 4-6), and present your perspective of the dilemma using steps adapted from the chapter. Use the following questions to guide your response:
What is the problem or dilemma? How would you gather as much information about the situation from as many perspectives as possible, including that of the client?
What core principles and competing issues are embedded in the case?
What does the NASW Code of Ethics suggest for responding to the case?
What laws, policies and regulations apply to the case? Here you may want to examine laws that are specific to the locality in which you practice.
Who should the social worker(s) consult with in resolving the dilemma?
What are the possible and probable courses of action? What are the consequences of various options?
