What are your thoughts on entrepreneurialism and economic benefit more generally in terms of how it relates to, or can be accomplished within, initiatives build on CD principles?

Q. Lo and Halseth (2009) describe community economic development (CED) as aligning with the principles of capacity building, entrepreneurialism, participation, partnership, and empowerment. Of these, entrepreneurialism is a unique aspect of CED not typically considered a CD principle. While entrepreneurialism is sometimes seen as a means of harnessing innovative and locally-relevant ideas, some say that “promoting entrepreneurship within local collectives disrupts the values that bind communities” (Lo & Halseth, 2009, p. 84). What are your thoughts on entrepreneurialism and economic benefit more generally in terms of how it relates to, or can be accomplished within, initiatives build on CD principles?
