Positive and Negative aspects of COMPSTAT

Background: There is constant pressure on police departments to decrease crime rates. One method currently used to help accomplish this mission is computerized crime mapping. An innovative law enforcement leader initiated the crime mapping method originally known as COMPSTAT. COMPSTAT was hailed as a breakthrough in law enforcement by some observers and was criticized by others.
Assignment: Identify both the positive and negative aspects of COMPSTAT, concluding with how you believe crime mapping methods should be used today. Include at least two criminal justice journal articles as references.
The minimum length of the paper is five double spaced pages of 12-point font, not including the cover page or the reference page. Resources must be properly cited within the body of the text and listed on the reference page using APA citation rules

Cover Page: Include the title of the paper, your name, the class title and date of submission.
Section 1: Introduction: Make an introductory statement about the topic and explain the purpose of your paper.
Section 2: Summarize the authors\’ main points of the journal articles you have chosen, including the positive and negative aspects of COMPSTAT and crime mapping.
Section 3: Compare and contrast the authors\’ perspectives on COMPSTAT. Discuss whether they reach the same conclusion or not. How are they alike? How do they differ? What type of crime mapping is currently used?
Section 4: Conclusion: Provide a focused, concise conclusion based on your analysis of the articles, explaining how COMPSTAT principles should or should not be used in crime mapping methods today.
Reference Page: List at least two journal references on a separate page and provide complete citations in accordance with the APA style manual.
