a) Design an essay that explains the role of Islamic fundamentalism in the Iranian Revolution.
b) How do we explain the Ayatollah Khomeinis central role in the Iranian Revolution? Was it his charisma that proved so compelling, or was his successful leadership dependent upon contingent factors such as the shahs ill-fated attempts to marginalize Islamic culture in Iran?

You may choose one of the topics listed below, or consult with me if you wish to formulate your own topic.
