Explain what drones are and why they should be illegal for personal use.
The Government Accountability Office reports that between December 2005 and December 2011 the number of countries with drones went from 41 to 76 (Kreps 59).

Drones come in different forms although their mode of operation and technical capabilities are almost the same. The most common type of drone is the quadcopter, which many people across the United States own for personal use. Such drones are light in weight and consist of four rotors that provide thrust for the drone while it is airborne. Other types of drones include the ones used in military installations that can vary in size and sophistication, depending on the impending mission. Although the intention of the drones was for surveillance purposes, the use of drones in the contemporary world has evolved to the extent that they can execute complex commands (Stone, and Kharif 31-33; Kreps 58-60).
Some countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States have imposed regulations regarding the use of drones, particularly those that are owned by the average citizen. The advent and proliferation of drones across the globe has led many people to acquire such devices because of their numerous advantages and efficiencies (House of Lords 50). Besides the official use of drones by government agencies and private entities, drones have become commonplace for personal use, especially in the United States. While government agencies and military installations use drones for surveillance and security purposes, the personal use of drones consists mainly of recreation and hobbies. Since it is easy to operate a drone without undergoing any training, most people can abuse the device by violating the privacy and rights of other citizens. Accordingly, the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) of the United States has instituted some laws regarding the use of drones for personal missions (Morley 198-200)

Moreover, the growing threat of global terrorism has necessitated the FAA to keep a watchful eye over people who use drones for personal missions rather than commercial purposes. Personal uses may include hobbies or for recreation, while commercial purposes may include the use of drones for conducting activities that benefit the general public or generate revenues for huge ventures. However, any personal use of drone requires the strict adherence to the guidelines stipulated by the Federal Aviation Agency (Brooks 42-45).
Professors request: I think you could do a bit more to explore the danger of personal drone usage here. Are there specific incidences where someone\”s personal drone has caused serious problems? What type of problems could those be ?
