Explain the development of each child using the Ericksons Psychological Stages of Childhood theory.

Instructions

Review the material on the major developmental theorists.

Use your textbook and other resources to review the theories of Piaget, Erikson, and Kohlberg.

Read the following case studies.

Read each case study below:

Owen is 3 1/2 years-old. He has an older sister who is on the swim team. When Owen goes to watch his sister compete, he finds it difficult to stay with his mother. He wants to touch the water and tries to pull away from his mother to go closer to the pools edge.

Stephanie is a 12-year-old and has tested into Algebra at school. The Algebra class is at a high school level. Her father is reluctant to put Stephanie in this advanced class because she had difficulty with her math class last year.

Explain the development of each child using the following theories:

Piagets Stages of Cognitive Development

Ericksons Psychological Stages of Childhood

Kohlbergs Stages of Moral Development

Provide guidance to the parents based on developmental theories.

After using the theorists ideas to explain the developmental level of each child, briefly add any advice to the parents of both Owen and Stephanie.
