Chart Builder – SPSS

Chart Builder

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:
Competency 4: Create an appropriate research design that supports the research problem.

Assignment Introduction

In preparation for your dissertation work, it is important that you re-familiarize yourself with SPSS and quantitative data analysis. This assignment allows you to make APA-formatted charts and perform an analysis of a pre-established data set so that you can focus on the steps and analysis rather than worrying about also collecting information to create a dataset.

Use the feedback from last week\’s discussion, u03d3, to edit your assignment prior to submission.

Assignment Instructions

For last week\’s statistics discussion you selected 20 variables that are related to your overall topic of interest. This week you will complete a Chart Builder using 2 of the variables you selected from last week\’s u02d2 (See the Field text pages 125131).

To create the Charts:
1.Select Graphs.
2.Select Chart Builder.
3.Select OK.
4.From the Gallery select Bar.
5.Double-click on the type of Bar graph you want to run.
6.Drag the variables to the various axes (X, Y, and X Cluster).
7.Click OK.

Note: Be sure that you have created the Labels and Values from Weeks 1 and 2 or the data run will not make sense.

Presenting and Analyzing the Charts:
Design your tables based on appropriate variables and analysis. Using your APA manual display this data in the correct format (This can be found in Chapter 5, pages 125148).
After you create the APA-formatted charts, in a paragraph explain the data from the table and its relevance to the sample. Be sure to address what the data tells you about your sample.
Align the findings from this data analysis to at least one relevant peer reviewed article on your topic.
