Material Culture

You should divide this question into two equal parts along with a conclusion. (1000 words for part 1, 1000 words for Part Two and a 500 word overall conclusion). 2500 words in total. The first part is about engaging in an analysis of, and research concerning, specific theories and methods of \’Material Culture\’. The second part is about applying this analysis/research to particular objects of \’Material Culture\’. You need to use a significant number of articles/books.
ESSAY QUESTION:
Making ourselves PART 1:
How might your personality be constructed through the things you own? Use a theory and/or method (e.g. anthropological, psychological or semiotic) to demonstrate the connections between personality and things. (N.B this question should not be used simply to chat about the things you happen to own) (1000 words)
PART 2: Show how your analysis can be applied through the choice of at least two examples of objects. Explain how these objects might act to help construct our personalities. (Here you might examine, say, how toys or games construct the personalities of children. Do not give the example of Barbie or Monopoly as these were given in the lecture). (1000 words)
500 word overall CONCLUSION.
