ASSIGNMENT BRIEF
The assignment for this module comprises part team-based presentation and part solo written
submission. The content of the final written assignment will be developed in a team workshop
environment to reflect a partnering style of relationship between the client (tutor) and the
professional service teams (students). The contact time each week during the module will
comprise oral presentations by the professional services teams and client briefing by the client
for output required by the following weeks meeting.
Context
The client for this exercise will be British Airports Authority, one of the UKs largest construction
industry clients. The professional services team has been engaged to deal with the 120M
construction programme for the financial year commencing 1st April 2018. For details of the
client organisation and to assist in understanding some of issues that the client will have to face

To present, as a team, PEST and SWOT analyses for the BAA organisation

To present, as a team: A programme of projects, with a timetable, for the coming financial
years, with detailed business case
Session No.4
To present, as a team, proposals for procurement with rationale; and risk management strategy
related to thof work outlined in the previous session
Session No.5
Reflective Practitioner Presentation and knowledge exchange prior to commencement of report;
report writing requirements; facilitated discussion by groups
By Monday 8th May 2017 To produce a summary of the findings of your team in the form of a
consultants report to client and to comply, in all other respects, with the requirements for Term
Papers in the Course Notes.
It should provide a summary of the presentations, in a written and report format. You should
consider an introduction to the report, SWOT and PESTEL analyses, identification and
presentation of the proposed projects and clear links with the previous analyses, and
conclusions.
You are to attend weekly meetings with your client for the purpose of briefing and presentation
of your findings based on work carried out during the previous week. Outside of these
meetings, queries should be addressed to the PM3 Moodle Forum

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Consultant Proposal Report (100%)
Introduction- purpose and introduction to the content of the report (5%)
Client background and business information (5%)
Analysis of client organisations business and market environment using SWOT and
PESTEL analyses (15%)
Proposed projects/programmes making business case and justification; evidence of
investment appraisals/costs management etc. (35%)
Procurement, programe schedule and risk Management (20%)
Conclusions & recommendations- summary and conclusions are well considered and
relates to arguments presented (10%)
Presentation- Report structure and clarity, the use of tables and figures to illustrate your
thoughts, use of English, conciseness, appropriate use of Harvard referencing system
etc. (10%)
