Was an exact term from the textbook or from a class discussion expressly mentioned in the news item?

Find and analyze a news item that ties in with Patterson, Chapter 14, and highlights something about the Supreme Court or federal judiciary. Word limits: 300 words minimum, 400 words maximum.
These are short papers (minimum 300 words, maximum 400 words) in which you relate an item from the news to a topic in American politics that is presented in the readings or was discussed in class or both. Your paper needs to include the following: 1) a short summary of the issue or
main idea (answer the question: What is this article about?); 2) identification of the people, groups, or organizations involved (answer the question: Who was involved? Provide names, titles, offices, and so forth); 3) an explanation of how this issue or idea relates to a class topic (answer the question: Why do I think the issue/idea in the news item is related to the class topic?) This third question is the most challenging but answering it will help you develop your critical thinking skills. You should get better at doing this with practice throughout the semester. Here are some additional questions to help you with part 3:
a) Was an exact term from the textbook or from a class discussion expressly mentioned in the news item?
b) If so, how was it used?
c) Was the term used to label(identify) something that was described in the news item? If so, what?
d) Was the term used to explain something? If so what?
e) Do you think the term was applied properly? Why or why not? f) If the exact term from the textbook or class discussion was not expressly mentioned in the news item, why do you think it applies? g) Could you be wrong? Why or why not?
