In your view, which scenario, A or B, seems more probable?
Scholars of warfare and generalized violence often focus on the paradox of newer, more effective military technologies. The paradox more or less goes as follows. A) On the one hand, new technologies can make war less likely, as one ‘side’ will be at a huge disadvantage and will almost certainly fail to achieve its goals; or, alternately, even if both sides have similar weapons, the costs would be so high that everyone will avoid war at all costs. B) On the other hand, having such superior technology will make war seem ‘low cost’ and thus might make wars easier to launch, leading to more war, not less. In your view, which scenario, A or B, seems more probable? Do they both miss the mark? Develop a post on this subject that demonstrates a good knowledge of the readings and of those sections of The Fog of War that are required for the class.
