Shouldn’t the government have more involvement in the people being killed in the coal mining business?

CURRENT ISSUE PAPER Description :

1) You are required to write one current issue paper during this module. The length of this paper is up to you, but should be of adequate length to sufficiently cover the topics in a college manner. The papers will be typewritten and double-spaced (12pt font, Times New Roman). Do not double space between paragraphs, do not include pictures to fill space, and do use the standard 1 inch margins. It is important to cite any references you may use, and it is unlikely any quality paper will not have references.
This is a current issue paper where you will discuss the facts, circumstances, politics, and other aspects of a current issue related to Civil Liberties or Civil Rights – current means within the calendar year (the last 12 months, but not the election or campaign of President Obama). In your paper you will discuss current issues based on the topics studied in the course (i.e., How does it relate to the Constitution?; How do the branches of government perceive this issue?; Who are the major proponents / opponents related to the issue, including the interest groups?; Is there polling data related to this issue?; How is the media treating the issue?; etc.).
This is NOT an opinion paper, rather it is an objective analysis.
2) References :
Proper footnoting / referencing is expected
Please use references of collegiate level quality. I will not accept the text as a reference (using the text demonstrates a lack of effort in research). In addition, I will not accept the use of encyclopedias as references – although these are good sources of general information I want a collegiate level of research. Unacceptable internet resources include: Wikipedia, other online encyclopedias, and general informational search sites such as info search.com, about.com, answers.com, etc… You may consult these sites at the onset – to generate some ideas – but they should not be your sources of content information.
Books by well respected authors, reliable web sites, academic journals, newspapers, and the like are quality sources.

3) The topic of these papers is up to you, but must be specific. The topic should be specific and include the issue you will discuss, which areas you will focus on, and why. Example: "Having A Pet" is not an acceptable topic because it is so general. What is it about having a pet, specifically, you want to write about? Perhaps it is Pets Offer Companionship to the Elderly. Great – that’s better, but narrow it even further. Maybe write a paper about the results, or the consequences, or the reasons for elderly that get a pet, but then decide it was a bad idea. Hopefully this helps – be very specific in your topic selection.
NOTE: The example provided here is NOT appropriate for this assignment.
ABSOLUTELY NO PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DUE DATE – NO EXCEPTIONS.
4) It is to your benefit not to wait until the last minute to start these papers. Papers of this nature, and of a college level effort, should provide solid analysis and description using very specific examples to support your assertions.
6) This current issue paper is due October 3rd. When you submit the paper do so using email. Also, submit as a .rtf, .doc, or .docx document. No other file format will be accepted (so, if you submit using .wps you may earn a 0).
7) Grades :

Each paper is worth a maximum of 100 points. You will be graded on your ability to communicate the issue, analyze the significance of the issue in terms of the topics we are studying in the course, and overall presentation.
CAUTION: Do Not wait until the last minute to begin this project. A quality paper will include a descriptive narrative with collegiate level analysis and / or explanation. And yes, spelling and grammar are important in everything you do.
