Diversity Essay
Essay length should be at least 1000 words and include cited factual support from at least three scholarly sources. Review the general lack of diversity in the early days of psychology and how this might have impacted both topics that were studied as well as what was researched.
We know from our discussions thus far in the class that the early days of psychology were dominated by European white men. How do you think that their cultural perspectives might have helped or hurt the early development of psychology?
Review some key events in the history of psychology (either people or research studies) that expanded the diversity of psychological study for two of the following categories (gender, race, religion, etc.).
Find and discuss two current research studies from psychological journals that are studying diverse populations.
Reflect on advancements made in increasing diversity within the field of psychology. How far have we come? What still need to be done to continue to diversify the field?
