For the second part of the assignment is to give your opinion on the cases below (no less than 100 word per case) and please number the opinion according to the case number.
Case 1:
One company that stands out for their community relations program is the company Toms. They have been known for their program of every time you purchase a pair of shoes, the company gives one away to a child in need. This program has helped many children and has even helped make the business a success. People really feel that they are helping out another when they buy these shoes. And will pay a bit more with the idea that a child will benefit for their purchase. The program has been so successful that it has branched off to health, education and economic opportunity for children and their communities around the world. The gift of sigh, clean water, and safe birth are some of the other programs that have branched off from the original one-for-one business model. They state on their website that the company believes that they can improve peoples lives through business.
Case 2:
While working at The University of Phoenix, one initiative I was quite fond of was team builders. We would together with our work team enjoy a day of fun to bond with our coworkers. These team builders took place once every quarter and it was decided that we should alternate each quarter by doing a purely recreational team builder and one where we did some community outreach. What the team chose to do in a volunteer effort for the team builder was up to the team. It gave people on the team a chance to introduce the rest of the team to something they were passionate about and we all came together to help in any way shape or form that was needed. The team still bonded through the efforts and the cause was delighted to have us help. We would wear our UOP shirts and represent the organization well. The program not only benefited the community but illustrated effective corporate responsibility. Employees felt good about themselves for being a part of a volunteer effort and they felt good about their organization for allowing them to do so.
