Impact of system on the taste of the water
Statement of Problem
in Saudi Arabia where the holy land of Abraham is, Zamzam water is one of the holy project we have. This water well according to the slamic tradition states that the Zamzam Well was revealed to Hagar (Hājar), the second wife of Abraham and mother of Ishmael. By the instruction of God, Abraham left his wife and son at a spot in the desert and walked away. She was desperately seeking water for her infant son, but she could not find any, as Mecca (Makkah) is located in a hot dry valley with few sources of water. Then, God send his angel, Gabriel (Jibra’il), who kicked the ground with his heel (or wing), and the water rose. A similar story about a well is also mentioned in the Bible. (Mujahidah, 2012)
The technological techniques associated with building of the well in the first place was according to the Saudi Geological Survey: “The Zamzam well was excavated by hand, and is about 30 m (98 ft) deep and 1.08 to 2.66 m (3 ft 7 in to 8 ft 9 in) in diameter. It taps groundwater from the wadi alluvium and some from the bedrock. Originally water from the well was drawn via ropes and buckets, but today the well itself is in a basement room where it can be seen behind glass panels (visitors are not allowed to enter). Electric pumps draw the water, which is available throughout the Masjid al-Haram via water fountains and dispensing containers near the Tawaf area.” (Saudi Geological Survey, 2013) Today, this well provide water to All the islamic world and consider one of the main projects in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The project is mainly handled by The Zamzami Family and funded by the government. The Zamzami Family created different project to preserve the water and produce it to the world in a very excellence condition. To be able to do that there are some projects they must maintain such as the cooling system.
The Water is cold in the well but when they take it out to put it in bottle it get hot easily in a hot country. The need for providing a cooling system that will be easy to provide with acceptable cost and preserve the power usage was a demand to Zamzam Family and the government.
For the various cooling system technologies and managing techniques the overall question therefore breaks down to the questions of:
- what is
the cost?
the capacity?
and the power that are required to provide the cooling system?
- What is the impact of system on the taste of the water?
- what the managing techniques that must be provided?
The thesis will therefore
- analyze and establish the report of each of the major component of the system and its technologies
- consultation result regarding the taste of the water after using the new system., and
- determine the needed managerial strategies to keep the work of the system in its better condition.
Finally, besides the technological and managerial aspect of this paper. there must be a training guide for the Family members who are running the factory and the workers as well
