4. VALUES PAPER – 0-20 POINTS (20%) DUE 03/30/16
Using the handout that was discussed in the first class (this can be found in the ‘Week 1’ folder under the ‘Weekly Information’ tab if you do not have it) on values and self exploration, write about the items that you rated high, meaning you may have difficulty working with this client/situation based on YOUR values, beliefs, etc (not because it would not interest you or because you wouldn’t know what to do). Apply these to question #3 below. Assume that you would not have a choice about working with this client. Self-refelction, the focus of the assignment, is critical in the field of social work, (or any field that involves working with and helping people). Share as much personal information or experience as you are comfortable sharing.
Use the NASW Code of Ethics as a reference (so you WILL have a reference page), answer the questions below as an outline for your paper. Use APA 6th edition format. There are no right or wrong answers in this paper; this is about you. Be in touch with your feelings. It will be graded on quality of writing and whether or not you followed/completed the assignment instructions. I will keep all information confidential. Submit a hard copy in class.

2. How might some of your values conflict with your ethical responsibility to adopt social work’s professional values? Use handout as your guide. (6 points)
3. What will you do (behaviors/tasks) to resolve the conflict between your personal and professional values in order to practice competently and ethically according to the standards of the profession? Include the feelings that you experienced when thinking about some of these possible scenarios. Explore the worksheet that you completed. (6 points)
