Write a critique of Jack Zipes’s “The Potential of Liberating Fairy Tales for Children”.

Assignment: Write a critique of Jack Zipes’s “The Potential of Liberating Fairy Tales for Children.” In your critique, be sure to include a clear thesis statement in which you assert your overall judgment of the author’s argument. Note that your thesis does not necessarily have to take an “all or nothing” position; you may, for example, like the way that Zipes argues but dislike the position he takes, or you may dislike the way he argues but like the position he takes. You may find some of his fairy tale examples better than others. These and many others are positions you might take in evaluating the author’s argument. Just be sure to make your overall position clear in your thesis statement.

Also, in your critique (probably in the 2nd paragraph) include an objective, accurate, and complete summary of the author’s argument. Be sure to string together with suitable transitions any section summary statements you may have created as part of the writing process so that your summary demonstrates cohesiveness.

Next, write several body paragraphs evaluating the author’s argument—its form as well as its content. Along the way, be sure to identify and describe the criteria/standards by which you are measuring this argument’s effectiveness, for instance: consider when Zipes wrote the article to determine if it is still relevant. Conclude by reminding your readers of the overall major strengths and/or weaknesses of the author’s argument.
