Why does the organization exist?

In the planning stage the manager must understand completely the purpose, vision, values, and mission of the organization. Why does the organization exist? How does it want to do business? Where is headed for the future and how does it mean to get there? These questions are answered by the leader of the organization however the manager must understand the answers to the question because from there they take information and make it real through the setting of goals and implementation.
