A portfolio is a “collection of evidence that enables students to demonstrate mastery of a desired course or program outcomes.” (Cottrell, 241) In other words, this is an opportunity to gather information together that can be used to showcase you – your schema or model of the world, your education, your work aspirations, and your accomplishments. A portfolio says something about who you really are and what you have the potential to become. A portfolio has the power to positively impact a potential employer.
Portfolio Table of Contents:
– A personal bio that addresses the questions, “How has health education impacted my life?” and “What events/experiences/circumstances have prompted me to pursue a career in the field of health promotion and education?” This element is an opportunity for you to explore your
professional motivation and should be 3-4 pages in length
– A cover letter introducing yourself to a prospective employer (real or fabricated)
– A resume (a counselor from Career Services will provide information in class)
