Read the section in the text dealing with the afterlife Pages 277 285 and view course video #4 that deals with the afterlife. Consider abstract ideas and concepts that influence all cultures love, justice, hatred, anger, freedom, etc. – and explain how these abstract concepts helped shape these particular interpretations of the afterlife. Also, contrast these three traditions with the Christian concept of heaven and hell. Why are these types of ideas important for human beings? And, finally, do you believe most modern Americans still subscribe to the idea of hell? Is it real to most people?
